MARCOOLA SLSC RECRUITING NOW
The Marcoola Surf Life Saving Club is now looking for volunteers to participate in regular beach patrols from September to May. Surf Life Saving offers its members a great opportunity to lead a healthy and active lifestyle whilst forming an integral part of the local community. It is also a fantastic way to meet new people and form firm friendships. So how do you get involved?
All active members complete the Bronze Medallion course which is the minimum requirement for surf lifesavers. This teaches vital skills to not only read the surf and learn about its dangers, but also learn rescue techniques and first aid methods which may one day save someone's life. Bronze Medallion course are run regularly, they are run Sunday mornings (8am to 1pm) for approximately six weeks. We also run Surf Rescue Certificate courses for 14 year olds who will become a Cadet upon completion of the course until they turn 15 and can complete the Bronze Medallion. All courses completed through Surf Life Saving are recognised nationally.
In order to complete the Bronze Medallion, you must become a member of the Club and be a minimum of 15 years of age at the date of assessment. Benefits of membership include access to club facilities and equipment, free patrol uniform at the completion of the course, subsidised gym membership at Invigorate (after qualifying period), membership of the Marcoola Supporters Club (bar, bistro, gaming), and eligibility to compete at carnivals. We also have an active social calendar.
